Why is the PULSE food bowl so good for my dog?

The food bowl PULSE from Northmate is basically a "hunting game" for dogs, which creates a connection between feeding, in that it is the dog itself that has to find its food, it stimulates instincts and develops mental and physical health in the dog.

When a dog uses its instincts / nose, it is basically the same as walking 8 km with it, so you will experience a much more mentally strong and happy dog, which goes to bed tired, which is what we all want for our dogs.We met the inventor of Pulse from Nothmate than your dog in search of its food

10 Simple Steps to Mastering Pulse | Foderboxen.dk

10 simple steps to mastering Pulse

It takes a while to get good at PULSE, but there is help available, so it can go smoothly. All you have to do to become a "Master of Pulse" is to follow this 10-step guide when training your dog with PULSE.

As I said, PULSE is simple to understand, but without help it can be difficult to master. It stimulates your dog's natural instincts, but it takes time for the dog to learn all aspects of the game - therefore it is important that you are patient.

So be patient!

The first step is to teach the dog to press the lid so that food comes out.

The next step is to teach the dog to follow the sound so that it can find the food inside the device.

Once the dog has learned this, PULSE becomes a game with many options and different levels of difficulty.

You can play with a single PULSE unit or experiment with several units over a large area, both indoors and outdoors.

We wish you and your dog a lot of fun with PULSE.

1. Obedience and focus

Teach your dog to sit and cover on command.

Give the dog treats when he listens and tries.

Once the dog has learned, you should only give treats when he does exactly what you ask him to do.

.

2. Give paw

Teach your dog to give paw on command.

Hide a treat under your thumb and teach the dog to take it by scratching your hand with its paw.

Say "Giv paw" or similar each time.

When the dog has learned it, the exercise is repeated without treats.

.

3. Give paw through opening on pulse

Remove the lid and teach the dog to paw with his fingers directly down into the open container.

Let the treat fall out of your hand and through the opening on the PULSE.

Repeat with the transparent lid over the hand.

4. Learn to press Pulse

Teach your dog to press the lid so he can get food out.

Fill the chambers with treats and turn the device ON. Press the lid for two seconds. When it stops flashing, the game starts.

Play without sound (turn off on the back). Butter if necessary. food - pate or similar - on the lid, right next to the exit hole.

The dog is automatically rewarded when it presses the lid to get the pâté

5. Quick play with one device

This is the same play as in step 4, but without pâté on the lid.

Help your dog on its way with your voice. When the dog is able to touch the lid to get the food out, you can try playing the game with the sound on.

Keep practicing this step until the dog is able to complete the play on its own.

6. Hourly play with one unit

This is the same play as in steps 4 and 5, but as a one-unit hourly play.

Select hour play in one hour by pressing once on the lid when the light flashes quickly (searching).

Stay in the same room as your dog and help him find the food when the beep sound is heard (six times an hour). Keep practicing this step until the dog is able to complete the play on its own.

When your dog masters the game in one hour, you can increase the duration of the game from 1 up to 10 hours.

7. Two independent hour games

This is the same play as in steps 4, 5 and 6, but with the use of more units and varying duration.

The dog reacts to the sound and must find the active device.

Keep practicing this step until the dog is able to complete the play by itself, after which the play can be increased from 1 and all the way up to 10 hours.

8. Play with two devices

Start a game with two connected devices with the sound on. Place the devices in the same room. Help the dog go back and forth between the two units. When the dog has learned how the game works, one unit is moved into another room or outside in the garden. Keep practicing this step until the dog is able to complete the play by himself, regardless of where the two devices are placed.

9. Play with 3 or more units

This is the same play as in step 8, only with three or more units. Place the devices indoors and outdoors at the same time and help the dog find the devices.

10. Play with ultrasound

This is the same play as in steps 8 and 9, only with ultrasound, which is set on the underside of the device.

Finally, PULSE is played completely without sound. When the dog is able to complete the game by itself, regardless of where the units are placed, it masters PULSE .
